What a wonderful turnout we had at the show! The Friday night gala was packed with art lovers, and the rest of the weekend brought more people than we could imagine to see the show. Zealandia was the perfect backdrop for so much gorgeous art, and though it was a little challenging to find for some, it was worth it as a destination! We had many sales and said goodbye to lots of paintings that went home with their new collectors, and were happy to raise lots of money for RiverLink.

The shorter days and dipping night-time temperatures of early autumn give a few hours of post-dawn mist on the French Broad. If we're lucky, this morning fog will persist through mid-October when the leaves reach their peak color. When that happens, the grey fog is shot through with spears of red from the maples and yellows from the sycamores and poplars.
In such light, the scenery changes by the minute. Just blink, and there is a whole new view right where the old one was. Plein-air painting or drawing is as much a workout for the memory as well as the eyes. It is an exercise in choosing the one gorgeous thing to the exclusion of other gorgeous things. |
